The Full Story

MMC MODULAR evolved from the Harwood Pacific Group that was establish in Darwin in the wake of Cyclone Tracy in 1975 to assist in the city’s reconstruction.  In 1998 the company expanded to New Zealand with offices in Christchurch and Auckland and became the second largest builder of homes behind the Fletcher Group.   CADSTEEL was formed in 1998 to manufacture light gauge steel framing for housing, and in 2001 introduced light gauge steel framing to the USA with a plant in Orlando Florida.   

Development of hurricane resistant housing using steel frame construction expanded the business into the Bahamas and across southern Florida, Georgia and Alabama and Cadsteel was selected as key supplier by the USA Corp of Engineers to assist in the redevelopment of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and a military project at the Marine Base in Barstow California.

In 2021 opportunities for the companies’ technology became obvious so the company was reformed and under the MODFLOOR PTY LTD banner resumed development of the latest innovative technology to produce the revolutionary light gauge chassis system for modular housing.   Chassis are now supplied to modular builders across Australia and continues to be developed under the STEELFAST brand with new patents and exciting innovations to be released in 2026.

The group has now evolved into a “one stop shop” for modular construction with a range of services under the MMC MODULAR brand, STEELFAST chassis systems and rollformers, MODCORE sub-floor insulation and YOUR WORKSHOP offering a total range services to the modular industry.

STEELFAST rollformers have been designed specifically for the modular construction industry applying the knowledge and know-how accrued over the past 30 years. Rollformers are extremely competitively priced with short delivery times with single and multi-profile machines capable of high speed economic LGS manufacturing. STEELFAST is unique in that it offers full design and detailing services eliminating the need for clients to provide their own design staff substantially reducing construction cost.
